Swim Lessons
The YMCA pioneered swimming instruction for the public. YMCA instructors provide a caring, supportive environment with a variety of classes for ages 6 months-adult.
Parent/Child Classes
Offered for children ages 6 months-3 years accompanied by a parent or other trusted adult. The classes provide a friendly way for children to become comfortable with water and practice the basic skills that will prepare them for swimming. Classes are held in the small pool which has an average temperature of 89 degrees and a depth of 3 feet.
For ages 3-adult
The YMCA offers a full progression of YMCA swim lessons that provide a fun, safe way to learn to swim with our specially trained instructors. Swim lessons provide a great way for children as well as adults to gain confidence, have fun, and develop skills in a positive way. In addition the Downtown Family Center offers the Challenged Swim program for those with physical or mental challenges, private and semi-private lessons, and life guarding/first aid classes.
